It was also mentioned that, after completing the game’s main stages, StreetPass Time Attack is unlocked, which allows you to race against people you’ve passed in regards to your completion time of the various stages. Plus, if you pass someone who does not have the game, you’ll receive an item. Then, if you pass them again, you’ll receive an even better item.
The latest Iwata Asks has revealed the amount of content in Super Mario 3D Land is comparable to that of theGalaxy games, with the bonus stages almost equal in number to the game’s main stages.

Square Enix released a video giving us an extended look at the gameplay in Heroes of Ruin. Check out the video below.
eShop to launch on the web, support demos, downloads in sleep mode and DLC coming in next update.10/28/2011 Nintendo has revealed they’ll be launching a version of the eShop that will be accessible as a website. At first it will only be possible to view information about games such as their reviews, but eventually it’ll be possible to purchase everything from the website as well. This will not be coming with the next update though.
Also It’s a bit overdue, but coming with the next system update in late November is the ability for Nintendo and third parties to release demos of their games via the eShop. In line with this, it was also confirmed that we’ll be able to download things from the eShop and put our 3DS to sleep without interrupting the download. Finally Satoru Iwata has confirmed that, once the next system update hits in late November, it will be possible for developers to provide downloadable content for their games. This is somewhat possible at the moment, with games like Dead or Alive: Dimensions providing bonus costumes and Samurai Warriors: Chronicle providing bonus scenarios, but I imagine the functionality will be expanded to support larger sorts of content. This is “a feature a number of software creators have been looking forward to,” so hopefully they make use of it. This week’s Nintendo Download includes the following featured content:
Nintendo Video™ Thriller – DreamWorks Animation – Shrek, Fiona and Donkey are in for the scariest Halloween of their lives when they attend a midnight musical based on Michael Jackson’s classic video… it’s bound to be a Thriller! (For Nintendo 3DS™) Nintendo eShop Burger Time Deluxe™ – How fast can you put together a burger when there are toppings out to get you at every turn? Give Chef Peter Pepper a helping hand in creating the ultimate hamburger in this classic arcade game. (For Nintendo 3DS) Pyramids – Pyramids is a puzzle-platform game in which an explorer tries to get out of the pyramids with his loot. Expect dangerous traps and monsters that will put your dexterity and ingenuity to the test. (For Nintendo 3DS) WiiWare™ Anima: Ark of Sinners – Join Celia in an astounding journey through the world of the RPG saga Anima Beyond Fantasy, an adventure that will lead to the deepest secrets of the city of Ark – and her own soul. (For Wii™) Also new this week: • Halloween: Trick or Treat (Nintendo eShop/Nintendo DSiWare™) • Academy: Checkers (Nintendo eShop/Nintendo DSiWare) New Super Mario 3D Land footage confirms second playable character, Tanooki Suit feature, more.10/27/2011 A new Iwata Asks for Super Mario 3D Land has gone live on the Japanese Nintendo site, and it’s full of brand new footage. I’ve compiled all of the clips into one video, which runs for almost eight minutes. The footage can found below. First off, Luigi is indeed in the game. You can find some footage of Mario’s brother in action at the 6:20 mark. Next, a feature of the Tanooki Suit has been confirmed. Like in Super Mario Bros. 3, you can turn into a statue when you’re wearing the suit. Enemies will be unable to attack you in this state. Skip to the two-minute-mark for the footage. This video also shows Tanooki tails on Thwomps and Boos, StreetPass functionality in action, a portion of a Bowser fight, another look at the Boomerang Suit, and more. EB Games in Australia has revealed the pre-order goodies gamers can pick up for purchasing either Mario Kart 7 or Super Mario 3D Land. If you pre-order Mario Kart 7 you’re entitled to a plush Mario hat and if you purchase Super Mario 3D Land you can grab a cute Tanooki plush hat. Better than a keychain... smh...
This is very likely nothing, but the above image popped up on 4chan and it is said to be a model for use in Smash Bros. on the 3DS. It was shared in MPO format, so you can click here to check out the 3D version. Of course, this is probably nothing, but I like to post about everything, and this falls under “everything”.
If you’re wondering why this image is relevant, it’s because, if it is real, that means the game has begun development. And that’s not as expected some people might think. Masahiro Sakurai said the game hadn’t begun development a couple of months after the game was announced at E3 since he was focusing on Kid Icarus: Uprising. That might still be the case, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s wrapped up that work. The game felt very polished even back when I played it in January in Japan, and again when I played it at E3, so it wouldn’t be that surprising. I think the reason the game hasn’t been released is because it would lose the spotlight to games like Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7. Nintendo America president Reggie Fils-Aime will be on Game Trailers TV later this week. The video announcing his appearance says Thursday, but the guide says Friday morning 1:05am EST. No doubt Reggie will be discussing Super Mario 3D Land and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Get More: Nintendo 3DS Friend Codes We’ve heard that most Best Buy locations contain a demo for Super Mario 3D Land, which you might want to check out. You might want to call up the store before you go, just to make sure.... below is a video showing that this is true. Nintendo has announced two new bundles for the 3DS in Europe. The first bundle for Super Mario 3D Land includes an Ice White 3DS, while the second bundle for Nintendogs + Cats includes a Coral Pink 3DS. Both will be available from the 18th of November. There’s no word on when or if these colours will be available as standalone offerings, but it should happen soon enough.
