After eight years Shinobi is coming back and this time jumping out of your screen on the Nintendo 3DS.

You are Jiro Musashi, leader of the Oboro clan and father of Joe Musashi, the hero from the original Shinobi game – you must train hard and fight through legions of enemies as you build up your skills to become a true ninja.

Shinobi on the Nintendo 3DS introduces a brand new combo system which lets you switch freely between long-ranged and vicious close quarters combat with ease.

Nintendo has released some new trailers for the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The new videos feature Link learning how to use his sword and Link getting romantic with Zelda. The game is released November 18th in Europe and November 20th in the United States.

  • Introduction: The new game’s storyline begins in Skyloft, an island town suspended high in the sky, on the day before young Link™ is to compete in a major bird-flying competition. The winner of the contest will earn the honor of taking part in a special ceremony with Zelda™.
  • Link and Zelda: Friends since childhood, Link and Zelda have always shared a special bond. Events in the new game will add even more depth to their relationship.
  • Groose: Link’s nemesis at school, Groose, plays a significant role in the early moments of the new game. This bully of a character not only threatens Link’s chances to win the bird-flying competition, but he also reveals a jealous streak toward Link and Zelda’s special bond.
  • Fi: Early on in Link’s new adventure, he encounters Fi, the spirit of the powerful Goddess Sword. Fi’s guidance proves to be crucial as Link goes forth on a challenging quest that will ultimately result in the creation of the Master Sword.
  • Zelda’s father: Gaepora, Zelda’s father, is the headmaster of Link’s school. As such, he has knowledge of the history and legends of Skyloft

Following the success of their first two home console units, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)--which combined sold more than 100 million units worldwide--Nintendo first announced the "Ultra 64" in 1994. Following the initial announcement, however, the system saw considerable delays and underwent a name change. It eventually would be first released two years later as the Nintendo 64.

When the Nintendo 64 released, it only had two launch titles. Super Mario 64 and Pilot Wings 64. Must have title was obviously Mario 64, then came another best seller, Mario Kart 64. Followed by Goldeneye 007 (sleeper), Star Fox 64 and Majoras Mask.

Nintendo is offering a remade version of The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition as a freebie via DSiWare. This is something I reported on when it was announced, but it has been made available in both Australia and Japan via the eShop already, so I thought I’d mention it. The rest of the world will receive it before the end of September 28th. As explained in the press release:

"The game allows up to four players who have downloaded the game to play cooperatively and has also been enhanced with a new single-player mode. Unlike the original, all multiplayer game play is handled wirelessly. Once players finish the main quest, they will unlock new stages and abilities to expand the game’s replay value."

As soon as it is available in the US I will announce it.

The Pokémon Company is attending Jump Festa for the first time this December. This is an event in Japan where announcements from companies like Nintendo and Square Enix are usually made and some people believe a new Pokémon game might be announced. We’ve heard similar rumours for months now, so don’t get too excited, but you never know if something new could be shown off by the Pokémon Company .
